New York Teacher Charges Dropped - Update

The case against Megan Mahoney has been dropped. Prosecutors said there was no evidence.

New York Teacher Accused of Sex with Student

(Staten Island, New York) A 25-year-old basketball coach and gym teacher formerly at Moore Catholic High School, Megan Mahoney, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy.

Mahoney faces a charge of engaging in a faculty-student relationship. Reportedly, the school athletic director, Richard Postiglione, failed to report the accusations.

The Post reports that the boy's mother claims she informed the Archdiocese in April, but got no reply. The Archdiocese told the paper it contacted the Staten Island District Attorney's office when it learned of the allegations.

Ms. Mahoney resigned from Moore in January.

Accusations of a relationship between Ms. Mahoney and another student date back to 2012, and in 2006 or 2007, another female coach under Postiglione was accused of sleeping with a student, the report alleged.
