NJ Woman Gets 15 Years Prison For Child Sex
(Lakewood, New Jersey) Earlier this year, a 30-year-old local woman, Mary Ellen Deane, was convicted on five counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
As a result, Deane was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison.
Deane, who was convicted of 15 counts after a jury trial last spring, was found not to be a repetitive and compulsive offender and will not be remanded to the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center for sexual offenders in Woodbridge, according to the office.A co-defendant in the case, Dennis Conover, 34, was found guilty at trial. Sentencing is scheduled for next month.
Della Fave said some of the 15 counts were merged, resulting in the 10 counts Deane was sentenced on.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the charges stem from acts of sexual penetration with the 12-year-old victim, who Deane knew. The offenses occurred on multiple dates during the summer of 2010.
