Carolina Teacher Sentenced in Marijuana Case
(North Wilkesboro, North Carolina)
A former West Wilkes Middle School seventh grade teacher was sentenced during the January term of Wilkes Superior Court after pleading guilty to trafficking in marijuana.Amick's son, Carson Amick, 19, also faces charges for a marijuana operation.
Denise Sturdivant Amick, 53, of 160 Rolling Pine Street, North Wilkesboro, was sentenced by Judge David L. Hall of Forsyth County to not less than six nor more than 17 months in prison. This sentence was suspended for 36 months and she was placed on supervised probation.
Hall ordered that Ms. Amick perform 75 hours of community service within 24 months and pay a $600 State Bureau of Investigation lab fee.
Ms. Amick also pleaded guilty to maintaining a dwelling for drugs.
