NY Union President Gets Jail for Grand Larceny

Laureen Hamilton

(Ithaca, New York) A 53-year-old education union president, Laureen Hamilton, has been sentenced to 60 days jail for stealing thousands of dollars from the union.

Hamilton also faces three years of probation.
Hamilton stole more than $8,000 from the Educational Support Professionals Union of Ithaca from January 2012 through September 2013, the district attorney's office said.

She was found guilty of grand larceny in the third degree in December 2014 after a trial in Tompkins County Court.

As president, she had access to the union's bank account and used the money for personal expenses.
Case closed.

Union president? I was wondering what kind of thievery it took to get a union thug arrested. It seems stealing from everyone else is okay, but not from their own. Thick as thieves to be sure.
