Florida Teacher Accused of Murder
(Pinellas County, Florida) A 45-year-old teacher at Clearwater High School, Cara A. Ryan, has been accused of fatally shooting her ex-husband, John Rush.
Ryan has been charged with second-degree murder.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Ryan sent a sexually explicit text message to Rush inviting him to her Indian Rocks Beach apartment on March 7. Soon after he arrived, she shot him.As of last Saturday, Ryan remained in jail.
Investigators don't think Ryan lured Rush to the apartment with the intent to kill, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said. Ryan sent the text message at 9:40 p.m. and Rush, also 45, arrived moments later. A neighbor heard a gunshot at 10:15 p.m.
The single shot went through Rush's left arm, piercing his heart, Gualtieri said.
