Virginia Woman Guilty of Sex with Teen

(Campbell County, Virginia) A 51-year-old former education aide at Yellow Branch Elementary School, Melissa Wilson Edwards, has pleaded guilty to engaging in sex with a young teen boy.

Edwards was arrested in January on charges of carnal knowledge of a child and indecent liberties with a child under age 15.

Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Brooke Willse-Gaddy has said the victim knew Edwards' underage daughter and picked him up at times to take him to the family home in Rustburg or at sporting events in which her daughter participated.

An inappropriate sexual relationship formed, and the victim, who in January turned 15, began to feel uncomfortable after Edwards became "obsessed," Willse-Gaddy has said.

The offenses took place in February 2014, court records show.

A sentencing date hasn't been reported.
