Preparing for "The Big One"

Hype about a potentially devastating tsunami/earthquake may concern Pacific Northwesterners. If so, the Washington Military Department says those in affected areas should prepare by making emergency supply kits consisting of the following:

  • Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
  • Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
  • Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both (link weather radio http://mil.wa.gov/other-links/weather-information)
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Whistle to signal for help
  • Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
  • Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  • Manual can opener for food
  • Local maps
  • Cell phone with chargers, inverter or solar charger

Good luck.

Not worried about it.
The US is becoming the American version of UK, nanny state or country.
We've got noaa.GOV, usgs.GOV, nasa.GOV, and all these other GOVERNMENT agencies looking out for us and holding our hands, until the shit hits the fan and you're on your own!

Also notice no one can commit on any of the sites?
You have to email in to call them out on anything, in return you get the same BS!
