Michigan Teacher Jailed for Sex with Student

A former Mount Clemens High School teacher will lose her teaching credentials after she was sentenced to jail after being convicted of having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Rachael Lauren Smith, 24, of Imlay Township, was sentenced earlier this month by Lapeer County Circuit Court Judge Nick O. Holowka to serve 270 days in the Lapeer County Jail, register as a sex offender, and avoid contact with minors.

Smith was sentenced on one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
