Winning Ticket Scammed

Chantelle

(Perth, Australia)
Chantelle from Perth was at the infamous Melbourne Cup races and decided to have a bit of a flutter.

She placed a $20 bet on a horse called Prince of Penzance with odds of 101-1 and was “stoked” to discover she had won $900.

She posted a celebratory selfie with her winning ticket to Facebook with the caption "Winner winner chicken dinner".
Unfortunately, one of her Facebook acquaintances scanned the ticket barcode at an automated ticket machine and stole the winnings.

In the USA, it's different.
You must sign and turn-in your ticket to a seller so they can rescan it and verify it's a winner before you are paid.
Anything over $500 and you must go to the lottery office and turn in your ticket, same with the track, you must turn it in at the ticket counter at the track where you bought your ticket.
