Lap-Dancers and Ugly Women

Male customers visiting lap-dancing clubs could have their photographs taken and posted on a website, women's rights campaigners warned yesterday.

The tactic, first used in Newcastle, will be adopted in Scotland if an application by For Your Eyes Only to open a club in Glasgow is approved next month.

The Newcastle strategy involved placing pictures of the men on a website - www.theyhavetopayforit.com. It was abandoned after clubgoers retaliated by deeming the protesters "ugly" and putting their photos on a site called thesewomencantgiveitaway.com.

Although the Newcastle strategy seemed to quiet the protesters, the Scottish Women Against Pornography (SWP) are not deterred and intend on photographing the lap-dancing customers. Showing appropriate regard for the position of the SWP, the Glasgow City Council is conducting research on the safety and nuisance aspects of lap-dancing. Previous research alleges that sexual favors are available at some clubs.

My take is that if the government is going to be involved, they should standardize the services throughout all clubs. (via New York Escort)
