WaPo Investigating

It seems that at least one leader in the elite media - The Washington Post - is finally taking serious notice of the apparent forgery fiasco. Currently being investigated are strong indications of direct links between CBS, retired Lt. Col. Bill Burkett, and the Democratic National Committee.

However, chances are that anything the WaPo publishes will not be new to the blogosphere. It's interesting that the breaking of the story and the search for leads and supporting information have been done by bloggers who, chances are, will never be given due credit. One could say this is an example of a classic cliche where the bloggers have won the battle and it's time for the elite media to bayonet the wounded.

Sometime down the road, one can also probably expect that a journalism award will be handed to a member of the major media for investigative reporting on the forgery fiasco and the blogosphere will be lucky to get a brief mention. This brings to mind another cliche related to large endeavors, "rewards go to the non-participants."
