Venezuelan Arrested For Hacking Air Force Computers

(Denver, Colorado) Venezuelan computer hacker Rafael Nunez-Aponte, 25, of Caracas, was arrested on Saturday in Miami, according to Jeff Dorschner, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney in Denver. He is suspected of hacking into a U.S. Air Force computer system in Denver, bringing down a network.

According to the federal arrest warrant unsealed Tuesday, Nunez-Aponte is charged with unlawfully accessing a nonpublic government computer, and damaging a protected computer. Authorities indicated that Nunez-Aponte goes by the screen name "RaFa" and is a member of a computer hacker group called World of Hell. Conviction of the charges carries a possible 11 years in prison.
