Florida Official Wants Sex Offenders Sent to Mexico

(Marion County, Florida) County Commissioner Randy Harris has proposed sending the worst sex offenders out of the U.S. to Mexico stating that "The American prison system is not a deterrent to these serious crimes." Harris believes a deal could be struck with Mexico for sex offenders to be housed in much harsher prisons and it would be cheaper for the taxpayers.

Hmm ...

In my opinion, however, the idea probably won't fly, but I think there is something here to ponder. For crying out loud, we're outsourcing everything from school tutoring to phone sex already, so outsourcing penal system functions would seem to be possible. It might even be feasible to develop a program where the prisoners were offered the option of serving their sentences in the U.S. or another country.
