The Secret History of Frank and Glenn
Spending years and years reading all kinds of material, little-publicized facts become lodged in one's long-term memory, only to present themselves at a most opportune moment. One of the facts I've held subconsciously was triggered to the surface of my thinking upon being reminded that Frank J. of IMAO is celebrating his third anniversary as a blogger.
In the basement of a midwestern university, among dusty archives, were stacks and stacks of weekly news magazines which, for some odd reason, I spent time browsing through. One story from decades ago was seared in my memory due to its strangeness. It was reported that doctors were in a quandary of what to do with conjoined twin boys who were physically sharing one penis and three testicles. While planning to surgically separate them, medical and ethics professionals couldn't decide which infant, Frank or Glenn, was to get only one testicle. Then they hit on an idea. Whichever infant was chosen to have a lighter pouch would be compensated by giving him the greater amount of flesh when the conjoined penis was divvied up.
Here we are many years hence and the medical records are still sealed at the request of the family. And, the question continues to be unanswered. Between the formally conjoined Frank and Glenn, who's the bigger prick?
Happy Blogoversary!
