School Psychologist Charged with Rape of Boy

Diane DeMartini-Scully(Mattituck, New York) A 45-year-old school psychologist with East Hampton Middle School, Diane DeMartini-Scully, has been charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act for an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy. The boy is reported to have previously dated DeMartini-Scully's daughter. There's a lesson here for girls taking their boyfriends home to meet the family. Watch out for momma.

DeMartini-Scully had previously been arrested in North Carolina on charges that included kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of minors for actions regarding the same boy and his 12-year-old sister after their family moved south from New York.

Arraignment is scheduled for today in Southold Justice Court.

[Update 02/06/06]

Yesterday, DeMartini-Scully was arraigned before Judge William Price on two felonies, third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act for two alleged encounters with the boy. She pleaded not guilty.

Wearing handcuffs, DeMartini-Scully's husband, John, and her two children -- including the daughter who once dated her alleged victim -- looked on. Judge Price set bail at $10,000 and scheduled another court appearance for Friday.
