Nurse Charged in Sex Abuse Case

(East Greenbush, New York) Here's an odd case.

A 47-year-old home-care nurse, Susan McDade, was arrested and charged for sexually abusing a developmentally-disabled 17-year-old boy in her care. The teen has the developmental skills of a 5-year-old and is incapable of giving consent. The charges resulted after a family member caught McDade and the boy naked together.

The family's attorney says the teen is academically like a 2 year old -- cognitively, like a 5 year old. Last December -- the teen's brother came home unexpectedly .... The family's attorney, John Aretakis says, "when he opened the door, a naked Susan McDade jumped off the bed and hid under the bed. This older brother saw his brother on the bed, completely naked, in an aroused state."

Since McDade has been caring for the boy for five years, one might allege that the abuse has happened before.

McDade was arraigned yesterday and released on $5,000 bail. She also has been suspended from her job.
