(Okeechobee County, Florida) A 30-year-old former band teacher at Yearling Middle School, Shanando Ashley Jackson, was arrested this week on accusations that she had sex with a 13-year-old girl in her class. Okeechobee County Deputies launched an investigation in February after a former student, now grown, said that Jackson touched her inappropriately and it continued for several years.
Jackson was arrested in adjacent Highlands County and booked on "one count each of sexual battery on a child, lewd and lascivious battery, and lewd and lascivious or indecent act." As of Friday, Jackson remained in custody in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
