Female American Officer Missing in Kyrgyzstan

(Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) Missing from the U.S.-leased air base at Manas International Airport is a 33-year-old female American Air Force officer, Maj. Jill Metzger.

From RIA Novosti:

The woman was last seen Tuesday in a city mall after she left a group of fellow servicemen from the Manas Air Base while they were shopping.

"We are currently filing with Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry and the National Security Service an official notification on the missing U.S. soldier," the spokesman said.

It's probably typical for Central Asian former-Soviet satellite governments to be disorganized. However, it's reported that a number of U.S. military investigators are searching for Metzger, along with the U.S. Embassy and Kyrgyz law enforcement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
