Noriega Scheduled for Release from Prison
(Miami, Florida) After being convicted in 1990 for drug-trafficking and racketeering, former Panamanian President Manuel Noriega was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. With time off for good behavior, he is scheduled to be released this year -- September to be exact.
Noriega's legal problems may not be over, though, since he is still a wanted man in France and in Panama. It's reported that the U.S. Attorney's office will pursue his extradition to France.
Notably, Noriega is now around 70 years of age so his capacity to cause future trouble is limited.
