NC Woman Gets Prison for Indecency with Boy

(Brevard, North Carolina) A 21-year-old local woman, Andrea Bussey, pleaded guilty yesterday in Transylvania County Superior Court to taking indecent liberties with a 13-year-old boy. Bussey was 20 years old when she committed the offense.

Bussey was originally arrested and charged with statutory rape in December 2006 but pleaded to the lesser crime in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution.

Assistant District Attorney Doug Mundy said that the boy's mother discovered explicit letters Bussey wrote to her son. When the boy's mother confronted him about the letters, he admitted to his mother that he had sex with Bussey sometime between October and December 2006, Mundy said.

Bussey was sentenced to at least 13 months in prison in accordance with the plea deal. She will be credited with 137 days already served since her arrest.
