Community Service for Cocaine in Classroom

(Lewiston, New York) In February 2007, 59-year-old substitute teacher for the Lewiston-Porter Central School District, Joan M. Donatelli, admitted that she snorted cocaine in front of her fourth-grade students. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

In April, Donatelli pleaded guilty in Lewiston Town Court to seventh-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in accordance with a plea agreement.

Yesterday, Joan M. Donatelli was sentenced by Judge Thomas J. Sheeran to 100 hours of community service. She was also ordered to surrender her driver's license and to continue drug treatment.
