In the past two weeks, three female journalists in the Afghanistan/Iraq theater have been murdered.
May 31st - Shakiba Sanga Amaj, 22, reporter for Shamshad TV, was gunned down in her home in Kabul, Afghanistan.I'm waiting for the mainstream media to memorialize the lives and condemn the deaths of these brave women. They were heroes in every sense of the word.
June 5th - Zakia Zaki, human rights activist, mother of six and program director for Peace Radio, was blasted with automatic weapons by intruders in her home in the Jabal Saraj district north of Kabul.
June 7th - Sahar Hussein al-Haideri, reporter for the Voices of Iraq (Aswat al Iraq) news agency, was gunned down while waiting at a taxi stand near her home in Mosul, Iraq.
Condolences to the families.
