Teacher Victoria Blevins Gets Probation - Updated

(Middlesex County, New Jersey) On Thursday in New Brunswick Superior Court, Victoria Blevins pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of harassment by offensive touching. Apparently, the charge of sexual assault couldn't hold up after the victim recanted her version of events.

In exchange for her plea in Superior Court, New Brunswick to harassment by offensive touching, Blevins will avoid jail time under the agreement. She also agreed to give up her teaching certificate.

The court cannot order a permanent revocation and she can eventually reapply for it thought the state.

Her attorney, G. Robert Wills of Princeton, a network attorney for the state teacher's union, said Blevins intends to join the military.

Christie Bevacqua, assistant Middlesex County prosecutor, told Judge Frederick DeVesa that the victim's changed account led to the downgraded charge.

"The victim in the case has recanted and continues to contact Ms. Blevins," Bevacqua told DeVesa, adding that the victim is now an adult.

Blevins remains free on bail while awaiting sentencing in July.

After being indicted on one count of official misconduct and one count of sexual assault of a female student, Blevins pleaded not guilty.

(Monroe, New Jersey) A 23-year-old physical education teacher and girl's coach, Victoria Blevins, was arrested this week for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a female student.

According to authorities, the victim's mother found evidence on a computer that indicated her daughter and Blevins were involved in an "inappropriate sexual relationship."

A subsequent investigation turned up evidence of numerous phone calls at all hours of the day and night between the two, the Prosecutor's Office said.

The student told investigators a sexual relationship with Blevins lasted from April through June. The student, who was not taught by Blevins, was under 18 at the time.

"Sexual acts between the two reportedly occurred at various locations but never on school grounds," according to the release.

Blevins was booked into custody at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick. Bail was set at $100,000.
