Florida Teacher Sentenced in Sex Case

(Coral Springs, Florida) In December 2006, a substitute teacher at Country Hills Elementary School, Deborah Ann Reeder, was arrested by Coral Springs Police for engaging in sex with a 17-year-old boy, her son's best friend. Reeder was charged with four counts of unlawful sex with an underage youth.

On Monday, 46-year-old Reeder pleaded no contest to three counts of felony child abuse in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution. The mother-of-three was sentenced to 30 months house arrest and 12 years probation.
In a negotiated plea deal, Reeder agreed to plead to the reduced charges, third-degree felonies which each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

She will not be deemed a sexual offender but must complete a sex-offender treatment program.

During her first 18 months of house arrest, Reeder must wear an electronic ankle bracelet. She also must complete 150 hours of community service and is not allowed unsupervised contact with boyes (sic) between the ages of 14 and 17.
The son's best friend, eh?
