Mom Gets Probation for Explicit Sex Talk to Sons

(Portage, Wisconsin) A 36-year-old Pardeeville mother, Amy J. Smalley, pleaded no contest this past week to a misdemeanor charge of exposing a child to harmful material in accordance with a plea agreement.

In exchange, a felony charge of exposing a child to harmful descriptions was dropped.
According to the charges filed against her, Smalley last year told her sons about several sexual experiences she had. She also allegedly described performing oral sex and also showed the two a sex toy.

"That is what I'm being charged with, but that is not what I did," Smalley said. "I believe I'm not guilty."
Charges were initially filed against Smalley when one of her boys told authorities that he did not think her sex discussions were appropriate.

Despite her denials, Smalley took the plea deal to avoid a possible felony conviction in a trial. The deal also spared her sons, ages 12 and 16, from testifying.

Columbia County Circuit Court Judge James Miller sentenced Smalley to a year of probation and counseling per the recommendations of Prosecutor Crystal Long.
