(Columbia, Maryland) In February 2007, a 27-year-old former special education teacher at Hammond Middle School, Kirsten Ann Kinley, was arrested for engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy. In June 2007, Kinley was indicted on three counts of third-degree sex offense. Meanwhile, the Howard County Board of Education terminated her employment.
In August 2007, Kirsten Ann Kinley pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree sex offense in accordance with an agreement with the prosecution.
Today, Kinley was sentenced by Judge Diane O. Leasure to three years in prison with 18 months suspended. Kinley must also register as a sex offender, is prohibited from contacting the boy and is banned from accessing the Internet.
