West Virginia Dognapper Arrested

(Charleston, West Virginia) A 27-year-old Charleston woman, Shawna Denise Burdette, was arrested yesterday for stealing a dog from another person's car.
Burdette admitted to South Charleston detectives that she stole the pooch, which was reportedly wearing a Harley-Davidson vest, from a car belonging to Janet Lynn Blair.

Blair had parked her car in the Speedway parking lot, 480 MacCorkle Ave. in South Charleston, and gone inside the store only to return to find the dog missing.
Burdette told investigators that she abandoned the dog in the Cross Lanes area. You have to wonder why she stole it.

The dog is valued at about $500. Burdette was booked into custody at the South Regional Jail on a petit larceny charge. Bond was set at $5,000.
