(Gulfport, Mississippi) Earlier today, 29-year-old Rebecca Dawn Bogard, the former Biloxi teacher and beauty pageant winner crowned Shrimp Bowl Queen, was sentenced to prison for the statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy.
Biloxi Circuit Court Judge Roger Clark imposed a sentence of seven years in prison with six years suspended.
Therefore, Bogard will serve one full year in prison and six years of probation. She was also ordered to forfeit her teaching credentials and register as a convicted sex offender.

(Biloxi, Mississippi) A 27-year-old science teacher at Fernwood Alternative School, Rebecca Bogard, was arrested last Friday for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a 15-year-old male student. She has been charged with sexual battery.
Police were alerted by the boy's family.
School officials will meet tomorrow to determine actions regarding Bogard's employment.

Bogard, a former beauty pageant contestant crowned Shrimp Bowl Queen 1996, has been suspended with pay from her teaching position. According to Superintendent Paul Tisdale, Bogard is also prohibited from going on any school campus without authorization.
After booking at the Harrison County Jail, Bogard was released on $50,000 bond.

Bogard was indicted by a Harrison County grand jury on charges of exploitation of child, touching of a child for lustful purposes, and statutory rape. According to court documents, Bogard admitted to engaging in sex with the 15-year-old.
