Woman Gets Jail for Cross-Country Sex Trip - Updated

(Eau Claire, Wisconsin) Yesterday in Eau Claire County Court, 44-year-old Tracy Taylor was sentenced to seven months in jail after previously pleading no contest to attempted sexual assault of a child under 16.
"In some ways, it's every parent's nightmare," Eau Claire County Judge Lisa Stark said Thursday at Tracy A. Taylor's sentencing hearing.

"This was so close to taking place," the judge said of the attempted sexual rendezvous.

Taylor has no prior criminal record and has bachelor's and master's degrees in social work.

"You knew the boundaries. You knew what you shouldn't do," Stark said to Taylor. "What happened here cannot happen again."
Taylor also received seven years of probation to be served when she is released. She has permission to serve the probation in New York, if possible. She was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

Additionally, Taylor is prohibited from contacting her victim or his family and prohibited from using computers or cell phones without her parole officer's consent. She was also ordered to pay an unspecified amount of restitution for counseling for her victim.

[Update 4/30/08]

Tracy Taylor appeared in Eau Claire County Circuit Court on Monday where a judge set bail at $50,000. Also, new information was disclosed.
As part of the investigation, the county sheriff's detective on the case reviewed text messages, including one from April 22 where the boy asked "Will we be able to have sex?" to which the woman allegedly replied: "I hope so. I love you."

Detectives learned Taylor had reserved a room at the Days Inn on Truax Lane in Eau Claire from Friday through Monday.

Police obtained a search warrant. After Taylor checked into Room 103, police found condoms, candles, baby oil and bottles of alcoholic beverages. Additionally, they found a letter from the teen giving his age, said the criminal complaint.
