Female Teacher Guilty in Child Porn Case
(Toms River, New Jersey) A 54-year-old mathematics teacher at Monmouth Regional High School, Cecelia Schneider, has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Asst. Ocean County Prosecutor Christine Lento, Schneider admitted to taking photographs of a two-year-old boy as she performed or simulated sex acts and then sending the images to others via the Internet.
Schneider's crimes were committed in 2002 and discovered during a child-pornography investigation in Marin County, California.
Distributing child porn and endangering the welfare are both second-degree felonies, carrying possible prison sentences of 5 to 10 years each. Sentencing will be decided by Superior Court Judge Barbara Ann Villano. A sentencing date will be scheduled upon completion of a sex offender evaluation.
