(Norco, California) A 57-year-old woman, Crystal Kay McPhee, was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly telling people in line that she had a bomb in her car at the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Norco.
The DMV office building and parking lot were evacuated while deputies waited for a hazardous device team to arrive, sheriff's officials said.McPhee was booked into custody at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside with bail set at $207,500. A court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday (8/5) in Riverside Superior Court.
Hazardous device deputies examined the vehicle in question and found no bomb or explosive materials. McPhee, who allegedly told DMV employees she had a bomb in the vehicle and not to touch it, was arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat. [...]
The alleged threat and arrest came on the same day DMV customers endured long lines at some locations across the state due to layoffs ordered by Schwarzenegger.
