Colorado Woman Gets Probation for Sex with Boy, 14 - Updated

(Grand Junction, Colorado) Thirty-one-year-old Theresa Lynn Millon pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child in accordance with a plea deal and subsequently was sentenced by District Judge Richard Gurley to probation.

She was ordered to serve a term of 10 years to life on probation. Millon originally faced several felonies for having sex with the 14-year-old boy.

Millon continues to claim that she was pursued for weeks by the boy and finally decided to give in.
Millon told a Grand Junction police detective she had intercourse with the boy “three to four” times at her former home in the 400 block of 30 1/4 Road, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The boy’s mother was hospitalized and being treated for cancer at the time the two were involved. Millon had agreed to let the boy and his mother live with her starting in February.

Millon said the boy claimed to have “been with” several other women in their 30s. She learned she was pregnant in April or May and had an abortion in early June.

Millon will likely lose custody of her own two children as a result of her guilty plea.

“I didn’t instigate this relationship,” she told the judge. “He looks like he’s 25 years old.”
Despite Millon's failure to see the error of her ways, she still only received a hand slap. In addition to the term of probation, she was ordered to complete a sex offender treatment program and sentenced to 15 months in the county work release program.

Since Millon was sentenced to probation, it's not clear how the work release aspect fits in. Typically, work release is associated with jail time. In any event, Millon should make sure to send Judge Gurley a Christmas card and maybe a nice gift -- every year -- from now until her probation is over.

Colorado Woman, 31, and Boy, 14
[Previous 8/27/08 post bumped]
(Grand Junction, Colorado) A 31-year-old local woman, Theresa Lynn Millon, was arrested and appeared in court earlier today for allegedly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Reportedly, Millon started a relationship with the boy sometime after February 2008 and became pregnant. In June, Millon allegedly terminated the pregnancy.

Grand Junction Police started investigating in May after a referral from a Mesa County Human Services worker. Millon faces a charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. In her defense, Millon says the boy lied about his age.

Millon was booked into custody at the Mesa County Jail with bond set at $75,000.
