School Counselor Guilty of Reduced Charge - Updated

Free Image hosting by ImageSnap(Lansing, Michigan) School counselor Carrie Alice Denbow, 34, pleaded no contest in accordance with a plea agreement to one count of inducing a minor to commit a felony. She had been accused of engaging in sex with a 15-year-old male student.
As part of a sentence agreement, Denbow faces up to 30 days in jail and probation.

Denbow had been ordered to stand trial in 2008 on six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and faced up to 15 years in prison. Those charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

The inducing a minor charge will be dismissed once she completes any potential probation term set by the judge. The charge involves inducing the alleged victim to commit the crime of delivery of marijuana, officials said.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 21.

[Previous 9/5/08 post]
(Lansing, Michigan) A 32-year-old counselor at the Hill Center School, Carrie Alice Denbow, is accused of engaging in sex with a 15-year-old male student and, yesterday, District Court Judge Charles Filice ruled that enough evidence exists to go to trial.

During the hearing, the victim, now 18, testified that he had sex throughout 2006 with Denbow at a motel and repeatedly in her office while a class was in session next door.

"We were having sex three to four days a week in that room," the 18-year-old said.

Denbow will stand trial on six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. A court date wasn't announced.
