Convicted Teacher Arrested for Probation Violation - Update II

(Daytona Beach, Florida) Convicted sex offender Cynthia Horvath was arrested today for allegedly violating her probation.

Although Horvath was ordered at her sentencing to have no contact with minors, she has been accused of accepting a friend request and chatting with a 16-year-old boy on Facebook.
The boy named Steve Warren wasn’t real – he was a fictitious profile of a 16-year-old boy posted on the social networking site by Sgt. Wayne Dorman of the Port Orange Police, court records show.

When the officer asked to be Horvath’s friend, she accepted, police said. They briefly chatted online, as Horvath asked the identity of the friend, which was never given. "I don’t know you but I would like to," the officer typed.
Horvath was booked into custody at the Volusia County Jail without bail.

Florida Teacher Gets No Jail for Sex with Male Student - Updated
[Previous 2/28/09 post]
(Daytona Beach, Florida) Forty-five-year-old former English teacher Cynthia Horvath pleaded no contest yesterday to unlawful sex with a minor.

As a result, the married mother-of-four was sentenced by Chief Circuit Judge J. David Walsh to probation.
The judge sentenced her to one year of community control, which equates to house arrest, followed by seven years of probation.

She also will be branded as a sex offender, which includes having her photo and address listed on the public database by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The terms of her punishment include that she must surrender her teaching license, that she is not allowed to be with minor children except for her own, and that she is not allowed to drive alone.
The restriction on driving alone was apparently imposed because Horvath had committed sex offenses in parked vehicles. It's an interesting stipulation since it's not clear how it will be enforced.

During the proceeding, Horvath apologized to the court and expressed her feelings of shame. (h/t: Stilgar)
