The Botch Gang

(Murfreesboro, Tennessee) Three armed intruders tried to rob the apartment of a Middle Tennessee State University student on Tuesday while two accomplices waited in a getaway car. The result was criminal ineptitude.
Edward Pope, 19, of 2709 Calais Court, suffered three gunshot wounds, including at least one to the chest, and is listed as a no information patient at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Police say he and four other residents, including two juveniles, attempted to rob an MTSU student inside an apartment located at 910 Brown Drive shortly before midnight.

Deonday Antwan Evans, 19, of 1969 Old Castle Drive, Lisa Marie Watson, 21, of 350 Tremont Drive, and two juveniles, ages 17 and 16, were charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and reckless endangerment with a weapon, along with charges of attempted first-degree murder shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to police.
Investigators are continuing to piece events together while searching for a possible link to another shooting in the same vicinity two weeks ago.

Apparently, Pope, Evans and a juvenile entered to rob the apartment of student Tremayne Johnson and, immediately, a tussle started between Pope and Tremayne causing a wild discharge from Pope's gun which lodged in the wall. Evans and the juvenile were startled and began running away with Evans shooting his gun wildly behind him as he ran. Three shots came from Evans gun and all are believed to have hit his accomplice Pope, one in the chest.

Ultimately, all five perpetrators were apprehended including Pope who is struggling to survive in the hospital. Understandably, nothing was taken during the robbery attempt.

The robbers should be called The Gang That Shoots Themselves.
