(Phoenix, Arizona) A 47-year-old sixth-grade teacher in the Isaac School District in west Phoenix, Michelle Coniff, and her 49-year-old husband, John, a respiratory therapist, were arrested Saturday after Arizona officers discovered 14 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
They had been pulled over for an improper display of a license plate.
Officers said the occupants were acting unusual and officers also smelled a strong marijuana odor. Each Coniff was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale and conspiracy to distribute and sell marijuana.
A drug sniffing dog was brought in and it led officers to a duffel bag containing 14 pounds of hydroponically grown marijuana.
Strangely, one might think that Mr. Coniff, as a respiratory therapist, would not be a smoker.
