(Daytona Beach, Florida) An administrative law judge has ruled that teacher Seneka Arrington, 24, is cleared of any impropriety regarding allegations made by a 14-year-old boy who had a crush on her.
"It appears that (the boy) had a crush on a young, inexperienced teacher; embroidered what he believed to be preferential treatment by that teacher; and encouraged his friends to believe that the relationship went far beyond what it really was," Judge Lisa Shearer Nelson wrote.Although Arrington was fired subsequent to the allegation, school officials stated that she was terminated for poor performance and not for the sex accusation.
"The school then 'investigated' what even its officials classified as an unsubstantiated rumor and discharged a teacher for no cause," Nelson wrote in a recommended order that was recently adopted by the Florida Education Practices Commission.
