New York Educator Arrested for DWI

(Rockland County, New York) A 41-year-old assistant principal at Intermediate School 217 in the South Bronx, Melonie Lendor, was arrested about 7 AM yesterday for driving drunk in the southbound lanes of the New York State Thruway. A fellow motorist forced Lendor to pull over.
The heads-up motorist called 911 - and got the woman to pull off the highway near the exit for the Palisades Parkway, police said.

Lendor - whose 10-month-old son was buckled into a child-safety seat in the back of 2004 Acura - was arrested following an investigation at the scene.

She was slapped with a felony rap for driving while intoxicated, and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Lendor reportedly had a previous DWI conviction in 2004.

Interestingly, given the time of the alleged offense and Lendor's direction of travel, it reasonable to suggest that she was on her way to work when she was stopped.
