(Rockland County, New York) A 41-year-old assistant principal at Intermediate School 217 in the South Bronx, Melonie Lendor, was arrested about 7 AM yesterday for driving drunk in the southbound lanes of the New York State Thruway. A fellow motorist forced Lendor to pull over.
The heads-up motorist called 911 - and got the woman to pull off the highway near the exit for the Palisades Parkway, police said.Lendor reportedly had a previous DWI conviction in 2004.
Lendor - whose 10-month-old son was buckled into a child-safety seat in the back of 2004 Acura - was arrested following an investigation at the scene.
She was slapped with a felony rap for driving while intoxicated, and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Interestingly, given the time of the alleged offense and Lendor's direction of travel, it reasonable to suggest that she was on her way to work when she was stopped.
