(Corolla, North Carolina) A 60-year-old man from Pittsburgh, Richard Snead, went swimming on the Outer Banks last weekend and didn't return.
Authorities say Snead was swimming near mile post 4.5 in Corolla sometime after 9:00 p.m. on September 12th and was reported missing right after midnight.Yesterday, Snead's body washed up on the beach in Kill Devil Hills. According to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Greenville, an autopsy showed that Snead died from injuries sustained from a shark bite.
The type and size of shark that killed Snead is unknown.
