(DuPage County, Illinois) A 38-year-old Aurora woman, Christina Sykora, is accused of facilitating the rape of a preteen female relative. She has been charged with predatory sexual assault of a child and permitting sexual abuse of a child.
According to Asst. State's Attorney Mike Pawl, Sykora offered the girl, age 7 or 8 at the time, for sex with a 68-year-old handyman, Sabino Martinez, who has been charged with multiple counts of predatory sexual assault. The sex, watched by Sykora at her request, occurred in 2004 or 2005.
Sykora admitted some aspects of the crime to investigators, Pawl said. The girl was staying at Sykora's parents home in an unincorporated area near Lombard when the attack occurred. Pawl said the girl was later victimized repeatedly by Martinez, a handyman who often worked for Sykora's parents. Both Sykora and Martinez have been booked into custody at the DuPage County Jail with bond set at $1 million each.
Pawl said Sykora has a lengthy criminal history that includes skipping out on bond. Most recently, Sykora had lost custody of her infant child after she was arrested in 2008 on drug charges.
