Virginia Teacher Arrested for Felony Shoplifting

(Staunton, Virginia) A pre-kindergarten teacher at Stuart Hall School, Danette Rogers, was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with felony shoplifting.
Officers say an employee noticed Rogers placing toys into two large crates inside the store.

After paying for a small item in the electronics department, Rogers allegedly tried leaving the store without paying for the crates or the more than $700 worth of toys inside them.

Cpt. Leslie Miller says, "We see shoplifting regularly. We deal with it often. An event with this amount is a little unusual."
Rogers' attorney explained that she shoplifts because of a history of abuse and psychological problems. Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen those things tied together.
