(Lantana, Florida) A 33-year-old local man, Fede Datilus, was convicted this week of sexual battery on a child and impregnation of a child stemming from relations with a nine-year-old girl.The victim's father learned of her pregnancy when he took her to a clinic on March 18, 2009.Conviction of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age is punishable by a possible life sentence. Conviction for impregnation of a child is punishable by five years in prison. Datilus was sentenced to the maximum on both convictions, life plus five years.
She reluctantly identified Datilus as the man who impregnated her during questioning by investigators and counselors through a Creole translator, according to court records.
