Florida Teacher Guilty in Fatal Wreck
(New Port Richey, Florida) Last Thursday, a 56-year-old Pinellas County teacher, Deborah Terrero, was
convicted by a jury on charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI causing serious bodily injury.
The jury found Terrero guilty in the crash that killed 37-year-old Nicole Cetrangolo and seriously injured Kenneth Dillon on April 5, 2009.
Dillon was driving his motorcycle north on U.S. 19 with Cetrangolo on the back. Neither was wearing a helmet.
As they approached Oakley Avenue, a Ford Explorer driven by Terrero pulled out into the northbound lanes. A witness testified the Explorer ran a stop sign and that Dillon attempted to avoid the SUV but couldn't.
Cetrangolo died of massive head trauma. Dillon, 50, spent weeks in a hospital and has endured a number of surgeries.
Terrero faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced on July 1.
