(Forsyth County, Georgia) A Cumming Elementary School former treasurer, Jamie Garfield, 36, has been accused of stealing more than $7,000 from the school's PTO.
Garfield faces a charge of theft.
While Garfield is accused of taking $7,911.82, police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi said thousands of dollars more has been reported missing and additional charges may be added.The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department is looking for Garfield to arrest her. She apparently has made herself quite scarce.
Last Aug. 5, PTO board members discovered that one of the group’s bank accounts was overdrawn and requested a criminal investigation. The thefts occurred over a 21-month period, police say.
