Dakota Woman Guilty of Raping Boy - Update

(Rapid City, South Dakota) April Solles has pleaded guilty by reason of mental illness to the videotaped rape of a 14-year-old boy.

Solles admitted to charges of fourth-degree rape of a minor and sexual contact with a minor.
Solles, 29, was suffering from depression at the time of the incidents in mid-2011, according to a psychiatrist for the state and defense attorney Paul Winter. The depression influenced her actions, Winter said.

The case started unfolding late in 2011 when Solles' 1-year-old girl died of a head injury. A 14-year-old boy was charged with murder in juvenile court but authorities have not said if he is the same boy in the rape case.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 23.
