OK Mom Arrested After Baby Ingests Meth

(Tulsa County, Oklahoma) In April 2012, a 25-year-old local woman, Amy Lynn Daugherty, was accused of child neglect after her infant girl was hospitalized with high levels of methamphetamine in her system.
Tulsa County sheriff’s deputies were called to St. Francis Hospital late Tuesday after a pediatrician alerted them to the 8-month-old girl’s condition, Sgt. Shannon Clark said.

Members of the Skiatook Fire Department had transported the girl and her mother to the hospital after Daugherty sought the advice of a family friend with medical training, Clark said.

The friend told deputies the infant was limp and unresponsive, “like a rag doll,” he said.

Clark said Daugherty told deputies she and the child were at a residence where meth and marijuana were being used Sunday. She said the baby was never outside her supervision and that she “didn’t know where (her daughter) would have ingested” methamphetamine.
Daugherty was booked into custody at the Tulsa County Jail with bail set at $25,000. A court hearing has been scheduled for this week.
