New York Teacher Gets No Jail in Sex Case - Update

(Canandaigua, New York) Former Spanish teacher at Canandaigua Academy Lisa Footer pleaded guilty to engaging in sex with a male teen student.

Footer pleaded guilty to child endangerment.

She was given three years of probation and will have to register as a level one sex offender.

A judge also ordered an issue of protection for the 16-year-old victim.

Frankly, I think the judge should have sentenced her to prison for a while and forget about the protection order for the victim. For crying out loud, why let her loose to do the same.

(Canandaigua, New York) A 44-year-old Spanish teacher at Canandaigua Academy, Lisa Footer, has been accused of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old male student.

A married mother-of-two, Footer faces charges of sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

"We have learned that she had an on-going relationship with a 16 year student," says Sgt. Scott Kadien of the Canandaigua Police Department.

Her arrest came after an alleged incident Saturday night.

Police say just before 10pm teacher and student were parked in the empty lot of the Byrne Dairy on South Main Street in Canandaigua. Court papers detail the alleged sexual encounter. "Most, if not all of the other incidents that we are aware of dating back to the summer of this year occurred outside the City of Canandaigua," says Kadien.
