Virginia Teacher Busted for Heroin at School

(Chesterfield, Virginia) A 35-year-old special education teacher at Swift Creek Elementary School, Jessica L. Young, has been accused of possessing heroin at school.

Young faces charges of possession of controlled paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance on school property.
During an interview, police found what is believed to be a small amount of heroin and a drug syringe in the teacher’s purse, said Chesterfield police Lt. Peter Cimbal.

Detectives then searched Young’s car and found two other drug syringes, Cimbal said.

School was in session when the drugs were found, Cimbal said, but it was not clear whether Young was actively teaching at the time.

Young was “immediately removed from school property” and “has not been working for the school division pending the disposition of the charges and the administrative process,” said schools spokesman Shawn Smith.
Young was booked into custody and released on bond.
