(Charlotte, North Carolina) A K-3 teacher at University Meadows Elementary School, Gail Attaway, was arrested this week for allegedly assaulting a child under 12 years of age.
Attaway faces two counts of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12.
A CMPD spokesman said he could not give out details about the case because the investigation was led by police with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.Attaway was booked into custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail with bond set at $30,000.
CMS spokeswoman Tahira Stalberte said Attaway had been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Something I have never heard is whether these "teachers" receive their state pensions, in spite of convictions? I think that needs to change, and that WOULD have an effect. How many of these women continue to survive without work, just on their pensions?
