Carolina Teacher Accused of Child Assault

(Charlotte, North Carolina) A K-3 teacher at University Meadows Elementary School, Gail Attaway, was arrested this week for allegedly assaulting a child under 12 years of age.

Attaway faces two counts of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12.
A CMPD spokesman said he could not give out details about the case because the investigation was led by police with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

CMS spokeswoman Tahira Stalberte said Attaway had been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Attaway was booked into custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail with bond set at $30,000.

Something I have never heard is whether these "teachers" receive their state pensions, in spite of convictions? I think that needs to change, and that WOULD have an effect. How many of these women continue to survive without work, just on their pensions?
