Phil's Flawed Forecast

Hereabouts forecasters have correctly predicted snowy winter weather, contrary to the February 2nd prognostication by Punxsutawney Phil. The animal had incorrectly "predicted" an early spring.

The weather has been blustery. Nasty cold bouts with snowfall even prompted an Ohio prosecutor to file a "criminal indictment against the famous Pennsylvania groundhog." However, Phil has now been exonerated.

That's right, Bill Deeley, president of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, on Monday told The Associated Press that the animal rightly predicted six more weeks of winter last month, but Deeley mistakenly announced an early spring because he failed to correctly interpret Phil's "groundhog-ese."

So miscommunication is at fault. Heh.
